According to data released by Chile’s national institute of statistics (Ine), the country’s steel inventories dropped by 4.6% year on year and fell by 3.8% month on month in May.

 

Meanwhile, the overall manufacturing industry inventories index rose by 10.6% year on year but decreased by 0.8% from a month ago in May.

 

The two major longs producers in Chile are CAP Acero with capacity of finished bar and rebar of 720,000 tons per year and Gerdau with capacity of bar and rebar of 470,000 tons per year.
