United States hot rolled cold (HRC) steel prices rose by $2 a short ton or 0.3% week-on-week to $665 a short ton in the week ended July 11th this year, as per the latest figures released by the The Steel Index (TSI).
A momentary calm has befallen coil markets in the US Midwest, with last week’s transactions largely pegged at previous levels.
According to TSI, HRC index edged upwards early in the week, but has been stable since then at $665 a short ton (FOB Midwest mill).
US Steel’s price hike last week has yet to galvanise prices significantly higher with other steel producers holding fire on similar announcements.
